As the newly appointed Global and Service Learning Coordinator at St John’s Anglican College, I am excited to unveil the dynamic initiatives and opportunities ahead. This role is committed to nurturing our students’ global citizenship, social consciousness, and personal development.

In my role I orchestrate enriching experiences that extend far beyond the confines of the classroom, fostering connections with students both locally and globally. It involves organising service projects, facilitating cultural exchanges, and integrating global perspectives into the educational program. My overall aim is to inspire students to effect positive change through service and learning.

The Global and Service Learning program at St John’s cultivates holistic development, incorporating empathy, critical thinking, and understanding of complex global issues. Service projects benefit communities and instil purpose in students. The program caters for diverse interests, offering volunteering, international exchanges, sustainability projects, and fundraising opportunities.

St John’s remains dedicated to maintaining traditions like the Cake Auction, Ponytail Project, and Operation Christmas Child and we also take pride in successful programs including the Homework Club, Containers for Change initiative, Funky Hair Day, and The World’s Greatest Shave. These activities not only raise funds for worthwhile causes but also cultivate values of generosity, empathy, and service among our students.

Looking ahead, we have exciting plans to launch our new Student Exchange Program. This program will provide students with invaluable opportunities to experience firsthand different cultures, educational systems, and perspectives. It will enrich their learning and also develop global citizenship and understanding.

By nurturing socially conscious and globally aware young leaders, we contribute to building a more compassionate and interconnected society. This goes beyond individual gains, extending to positive ripple effects on the broader community.

Together, with the support of parents and the community, we can create a brighter future where compassion, empathy, and service are one of the central aspects of St John’s balanced education.
